Can it be 35 years since we graduated? Amazing how time flies! We were going to have a 35th reunion but we couldn't get our act together soon enough but we will do SOMETHING most likely in the spring. Great
evening. I, too, thought the roll call was a great idea. The conversations
were so good, remember it was around 12:45 when we finally had to
leave the place.

person I talked with was just as interested in speaking with me as
I was them. The atmosphere was filled with lots of positive energy,
I never even noticed if there was or wasn't any music!
The most interesting information
was finding out that my old AH art teacher married one of my friends
from my freshman art class!!
My only regret it that I wasn't
able to sit with one person long enough to really find out in greater
detail, what was going on in their lives. I almost wish that we
could do it again in 5 years rather than 10!!
Thanks again to all of you for
doing this for the rest of us.

feel that the volunteers did an incredible job organizing a first-rate
event. A lot of work had to go into this. Thank you very much.
I enjoyed the evening. It
was fun to see old friends and I enjoyed talking with classmates
whom I never really had known very well back in high school.
Time flies! And the evening
went by too quickly also!! But the memories will last a lifetime.

heard positive comments, exclusively. I had a great time. The food
was excellent, the room was great and the people were fun and interesting.
The event has moved me to promise myself to keep in closer touch with
people from the past, which I will do.

to you and everyone who worked on the reunion. My impression from
this reunion was that "seeing everyone meant more on a personal
level". It wasn't about status, your job, how many kids you had,
how much money you made, how big your house was etc. People seemed
more connected. We have all been seasoned with bumps in the road as
well as many great accomplishments. No one is better than anyone else.
I thought everyone was extremely happy to see each other. It also
dawned on me that many of my friends are in town and that we should
make a much greater effort to see each other as well as enjoy our
families.

a note to thank you and the entire reunion committee for all their
hard wok in putting this past weekend together. You all did a fabulous
job! I also enjoyed reading the book with Tanja Aleshire yesterday
-- very well done!
As far as impressions:
I thought the casual Friday night at Harry's was a good idea.
Saturday was just great! I thought "taking roll" was a real
good idea, so you saw where people were sitting and could make contact.
Location was also good -- easy to get to! Wouldn't change a thing!

Introducing everyone was a great idea. Get a better P.A. system. If
there is anything I can do long distance, I would love to help next
time.
It was delightful to see the number
of people who reconnected. I was surprised at the number who were
hoping that I would be present. (It was actually more then three.)
You are never to old to get an ego boost from
your classmates. At the ten year everyone was an older version of
their goofy high school self's. By the 20 year we had turned into
adults. (The women had aged better then the men.) At the 30 year
people were much more
civil. (The women still looked better then the men.) With few exceptions,
people who knew each other but never talked in high school were
willing to chat. Undisclosed crushes were revealed. Some are still
in hiding. And
several old flames are still not extinguished. (No names, some of
these people are married.) New flames were started. Tom and JoAnne
were married as a result of the 10 year. Are there any other marriages
as a result of
the reunions? I was surprised at the number of people who talked
all the way back to grade school. It would be great to see a chart
that includes the Jr High and grade school for each of us. I had
fun with the irreverent
minutia that was remembered. My three legged dog lives. Returning
pop bottles for gas money. Ray's habit of taking off his socks and
picking his toe nails. On the negative side, I am haunted by my
failure to have any
memory (even after going home and checking all four year books)
of a classmate who clearly remembered me. My apologies. Age, past
illnesses, and dead brain cells play nasty tricks. At the 20 year
it was impressive to
see the breadth of accomplishment that the class had attained. At
the 30 it was even broader. (Like an old house painter who is now
a father's rights advocate.) That breadth is now starting to include
our children. Go rent
the movie Simon Birch. Lead actor is the child of a water tower
climbing red head from '73. At the 40 year, these kids will be parents
with careers. Be sure to include a place on the form to brag on
them. And the grandchildren. Finally, there is Steve's efforts in
Africa. Reducing the school dropout rate from 40% to less then 1%.
Feeding children. Making a commitment. Perhaps the class of '73
can raise a fund to help him with his work. Imagine the chance to
help a nation.

had such a wonderful time Sat. night!!!!! Thanks to you and your hard-working
committee, the night was truly one to remember forever. Everyone was
so nice and friendly---the conversations just flowed all night long.
The food was great---good veggies and potatoes---delicious filet.
The pen, magnet, and CD are great gifts--I have been listening to
the CD in my car the past 2 days.
You looked fabulous--you haven't
changed a bit.(Sorry, had to leave that in!)

dedication, organization, and hard work.

so much again for all the hard work and planning that you did for
our reunion. Everyone has such a great time and it all comes together
so beautifully.
I think that the best part is just watching all the friends and maybe
even those who weren't in the same "group" years ago, talking
and laughing together as old friends. So many classmates came from
far away, which is a tribute to what a special group of friends we
had back then. It may have taken us 30 years to get there, but it
was great to see!
Now that I no longer live in Arlington Heights, each trip back becomes
more special. Thanks for giving me a reason to return again.
On a funny note, I think you need to give Peter Hendrichs a hard time
for still being such a nerd and lecturing us about how we should not
put the magnet next to our credit cards.

I
think the reunion was terrific. It was so great to see everyone. I
came away feeling good about myself; kind of like I was more popular
than I remember that I was. All kinds of people were happy to talk
and reminisce. Maybe that's just the result of thirty years of wisdom
in everyone's brains.
One interesting event - One of my former eighth grade classmates came
up and explained to me how he felt bad that we treated our eighth
grade teacher so badly. He thought that we should not have given her
so much grief. In a way he is right, on the other hand I do remember
that she got much pleasure from our class, and I don't think that
she would remember us as having been a bad class - we were just typical
eighth graders!
Thanks again for all you did. I look forward to helping out again
next time.

of the neatest things I found out at the reunion was the Elaine Wakely
started playing soccer at 37 and still plays in an over 30 league.
She gives new meaning to the term "soccer mom." Again thanks

General Feelings:
¢ Informal gathering at Harry's on Friday night was a good idea.
¢ No band or DJ was a good idea. It gave everyone an opportunity
to talk without shouting at each other.

¢ We all appreciate the creativity, time and effort that went

Things Overheard:
¢ AHS 1973 Hits- The guys were looking for songs from Led Zeppelin,
Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull etc.
¢ The women without any doubt have aged better than the men.
¢ It was nice to get together with classmates and not discuss
jobs, careers, money, houses etc. With age comes more maturity and
wisdom. There were no jocks, freaks or nerds just people with a lot
in common as we get older.
